Lip was, and still is
BORN TO BE ALIVE
Lip is not conventional, and hasn't been for the past 142 years.
It is in 1867, that Emmanuel Lipmann established his workshop, occupying about fifteen watchmakers. In 1896, he has the idea to build a Leading watch brand, and registers Chronomètre Lip on the dial of his watches.
In 1952, Lip manufactures the first electric watches.
1973, Lip, always avant-gardist, appeals to Designer that are renowned internationally to edit new ranges: Roger Tallon, Isabelle Hebey, François De Baschmakoff, Marc Held.
The Design revolution in watch making is launched by Lip.
The brand is bought back in 1990 by Jean-Claude Sensemat and in 2002, the group entrusts the international licence for Lip to his former general manager Jean-Luc Bernerd, today Chairman ... and Chief Executive Officer of the watch making General Factory ( MGH ).
Lip: a watch brand not like the other.
Settled in the south west of France, more precisely at Lectoure in the Gers, Lip is far from it's native Doubs region, and from watch-making Switzerland.
Far also, from classic distribution networks, and only present in places where Design expresses itself: the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, the New York and Tokyo MoMa, at Barneys in the USA, at Maman in Paris...
With more than 142 years on the meter, Lip, an historical watch-making brand, is audacious and non conformist deep in it's soul. Without inhibitions, mischievous, Lip is faithfull to it's values: accessible, creative, and quality products enriched by a pronounced taste for Design. Read more
